“Power From Books”

Apodi Energy from Books 06

Apodi, Brazil

In the third year of our “Energy from Letters” programme, Scatec has expanded the impact in the community in partnership with the local schools.

The challenge

Engaging schools and families was one of our greatest challenges, ensuring participation throughout every stage. Coordinating the review and publication of over one hundred stories required strong teamwork and strict deadline management. Additionally, fostering students’ creativity and self-esteem in contexts with limited resources reinforced our commitment to inclusion and transformative education.

How we worked together

The programme was shaped through collaboration between schools, teachers, coordinators, families, Scatec and the local community. In a region where reading and writing are not common practices, this collective effort turned challenges into opportunities, strengthening bonds and promoting inclusion. Beyond publishing stories, the programme created a legacy of creativity, self-esteem and educational value, with long-term impacts that will remain in the community.

In my view, the Energia das Letras project revealed within the school both the thoughts and ideals, as well as the feelings of students, by allowing them to express themselves through pages.”

Community investments are our voluntary initiatives that contribute to the long-term common good of local communities and come in addition to efforts made to mitigate or compensate for project-related impacts. We are committed to contributing to the communities in a way that allows them to develop by themselves without becoming dependent on us.
