Water System Extension

Water System Extension

El Obraje is a community in Namasigüe, Choluteca, in the southern part of Honduras. Water access in the area has always been a challenge due to extended dry seasons and lack of necessary infrastructure.

The challenge

El Obraje is a widespread community, and two sectors of the community were not connected to the main water system. This need was prioritized by the whole community, allowing for the project to be developed.

How we worked together

The extension of the water system in El Obraje was implemented in close collaboration with the Water Board of El Obraje and the beneficiaries. The project consisted of the drilling of a well, the installation of an electric water pump and the connection to a newly built 10,000-gallon water tank. The expansion included over two kilometers of distribution line to reach two sectors of the community with 70 households that previously did not have direct water access. With this project, all the homes in the community now have access to this vital resource.

Thanks to the Los Prados plant, we have managed to complete a dream, the goal of having water in all the homes in the community of El Obraje.
